About Us

OneStep is a cultural exchange program for American college students who want to experience both historical and modern-day Egypt. Since 2016, we have hosted hundreds of American college students in Cairo. We help foster friendships, and through them, our hope is that more people gain cultural understanding.
Run by a group of Americans who are passionate about Egyptian culture and heritage, OneStep is a unique program that combines Arabic study, tourism experiences, educational seminars and host outings to show American students what life in Egypt is really like today. What programs do you offer? We offer four programs for American college students. The majority of our students come for our 6-Week Summer Program, during the American college summer break. We also have students spend a week with us for a Fast-Paced Taste, Semesters Abroad here in the spring and fall, and for those that want an in-depth, immersive experience, we have the Live Like a Local program.
What are Host Outings? While here, our students experience all of the tourism Cairo has to offer, but the host outings are different.
We interview English-speaking Egyptian hosts to take our American college students on outings around Cairo. This is when they eat koshary and try Asab for the first time, when they ride a felucca on the Nile, when they explore the hustle and bustle surrounding Tehrir Square, when they visit Moqattam at sunset, when they make memories they will never forget. Our program allows American students to experience Egypt like Egyptians do, and allows Egyptians to practice their English with native speakers. |
How can I become a host?If you are an English-speaking Egyptian interested in becoming a host the next time we have American students in Cairo, we would love to have you! Please fill out the Become a Host form with your information and we will contact you when we need you.
